WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

West Baton Rouge Deputies have captured a suspect who ran from them during a traffic stop Friday morning on I-10.

Deputies say when they stopped the man just after 9 a.m., they noticed suspected drugs in the vehicle and he took off running.

A perimeter was set up south of I-10 around a large field. The man was captured just after 12:30 p.m.

The man has been identified as 29-year-old Clarence Preston, of Houston, TX. Officials say Preston was driving an SUV when he was pulled over. His unidentified girlfriend was in the passenger's seat.

Reports from WBR say Preston jumped out of the vehicle and began to run. The deputy chased after him on foot and the girlfriend drove off in the SUV.

The woman is still wanted, but no information has been released about her.

Officials say the Angola Chase team assisted in the search for the man.
