The decision to release surveillance video of the suspect who tried to carjack a woman paid off, as police reported an arrest has been made in the case.

Police arrested 53-year-old Donald S. Phillips Jr. on Wednesday, March 4 on charges of carjacking, aggravated kidnapping and attempted 2nd degree murder.

More charges are still pending as the Plaquemine Police Department and Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office continue their joint investigation.

Investigators said the attempted carjacking happened Monday morning outside a church on Plaquemine Street.

According to police, Phillips stabbed a woman in the leg after he couldn't figure out how to operate the "push-to-start" feature on the car.
