BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police released the names Wednesday of the officers who shot at two suspects who allegedly tried to run over them with a car Monday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department identified them as Dustin Johnson, Doug Chutz Jr., Russ Hernandez, Joshua Barnett and Richard Garon. All five are currently assigned to the uniform patrol bureau, as the investigation into the shooting continues.

Johnson has been with the department for eight years, Chutz for seven years, Hernandez for two years, Barnett for two years, while Garon just recently graduated from the academy and was in field officer training.

Officials said the five officers shot at the driver and a passenger in the car because they were driving at the officers. The two suspects remain hospitalized. They suffered injuries not considered life-threatening injuries.

Police have not reported what charges the two men face. They will likely get booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison once they are released from the hospital.

BRPD said its officers were helping an officer with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to pull over a car that wouldn't stop.

The incident all ended in the Acadian Village parking lot on Perkins Road.
