BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a jail employee accused of offering to pay a woman for "sexual favors" was arrested Monday.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Jordan Zachary, 20, is charged with solicitation of prostitution. Deputies said the parish prison security worker was immediately fired and will be booked in the same jail where he worked.
They added Zachary had worked at the parish prison for about seven months.
The victim reportedly met Zachary through friends nearly a year ago and the conversations between them "became sexual in nature" about a month ago. Authorities said she contacted deputies via Facebook on Sunday claiming he sent her a Facebook message the day before related to her "making extra money for sexual favors."
Deputies reportedly then turned the information over to detectives to investigate.
"It is very disheartening when we have to deal with something like this in house," Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said in a written release. "However, we take any complaint very seriously, and we acted quickly to thoroughly investigate. We will not tolerate anything of this nature."
The reports indicate Zachary met the victim before he started working for the sheriff's office.
