BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Tim Quarterman became the first LSU Tiger to record a double-double since Shaquille O'Neal wore the purple and gold.
LSU overcame a slow start and eleven-point deficit to defeat Ole Miss 73-63 in the PMAC Saturday afternoon. Quarterman scored 18 points, added ten rebounds and finished with ten assists, while Jarell Martin added 18 points and 12 boards.
Ole Miss used an 12-0 run midway through the first half to take a commanding 26-15 lead, largely because Martin and Jordan Mickey had been held to just two points combined. But Martin sparked a surge before halftime and Jalyn Patterson's three pointer gave LSU the lead for good 31-29 early in the second half. With the win LSU (21-8, 10-6) ties Ole Miss (19-10, 10-6) for fourth place in the SEC, and now owns the tiebreaker for SEC Tournament seeding since the Tigers swept both games from the Rebels this season.
Keith Hornsby added 16 points and Mickey had eleven, all in the second half. LSU closes out its home schedule Wednesday night at 6:00 against Tennessee, before closing the regular season on the road at No. 18 Arkansas.
