Fire crews work early morning house fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Baton Rouge Fire Dept. was called out to a house fire early Saturday morning. The fire happened at a home in the 1100 block of Columbus Dunn just before 2:00 am.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found fire coming from the back of the house, which spread to the attic and broke through the roof before it was extinguished. Crews were able to contain the fire to the rear portion of the home, but the rest of house still received heavy smoke damage and moderate fire damage.

Investigators believe the cause of this fire was a faulty breaker box in the laundry room. Red Cross was called out to assist the family living in the home. No injuries were reported.
