BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested and charged with child desertion, resisting an officer and flight from officer early Tuesday morning.
The man, now identified as William Patrick Womack, was being stopped by Baton Rouge Police for not dimming his headlights.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Womack didn't stop when the officer turned on his lights and sirens. The report says Womack drove to the 9700 block of Ave. I, got out of the car, and began running.
Womack ignored verbal commands, according to the report, and the officers chased him for about 150 yards. He continued to resist being placed under arrest and would not lie on his stomach with his hands behind his back. Officers report they had to use a taser to get Womack to comply.
When officers returned to the vehicle, they found a 2-year-old lying unrestrained in the backseat. They also found an open 24 ounce Steel Reserve beer sitting in the console.
Womack was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $7,000 bond.
