BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a tip from the public led them to the man accused of robbing a convenience store Tuesday night by threatening the clerk with a screwdriver.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Andrew Darce, 54, of Baton Rouge, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of armed robbery. Bond has not yet been set.
The armed robbery happened at the Cracker Barrel on Millerville Road around 11:30 p.m.
Deputies said the suspect walked into the store and demanded cash.
"Give me everything you got in the register," the man reportedly said.
According to deputies, he then jumped on top of the counter with a screwdriver in his hand. They added he was holding the screwdriver as if he was going to stab the employee.
Authorities said at that point, the clerk opened the register.
"You can have it," reports stated the clerk told the robber.
Detectives said the man took the cash out of the register and ran out of the store.
