BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A East Baton Rouge Metro Council member is making her concerns about the CATS bus system known directly to the man in charge.
"When I hear of a brake failure, it ought to concern every board member in here. It ought to concern everyone in here, because we all pass buses on the street, I want to make sure those buses are safe," said Metro Council member C. Denise Marcelle.
Council member Marcelle says she is hearing complaints about bus safety, including an incident where a gun may have been brought on board sometime last week.
But the CATS CEO says safety is a top priority.
"We're putting together quality improvement teams, to give the opportunity for the operators, for the mechanic to come up with solutions to some of the issues they brought to our attention," said CEO Bob Mirabito.
Mirabito also said that he has an open-door policy and is willing to hear any suggestions or concerns.
