Investigators rule fire that destroyed vacant house was arson

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials are trying to find the person responsible for intentionally setting a vacant house on fire early Tuesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Jefferson Avenue, which is off North 44th Street north of Gus Young Avenue, around 1:30 a.m.

Mark Miles with BRFD said crews made it to the scene to find flames coming out of the front of the house.

He added they put out the fire, but couldn't save the house. It is considered a total loss.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
