Freezing rain advisory expires for SE LA, part of SW MS

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A freezing rain advisory continues for central and western Louisiana, but it has expired for the WAFB viewing area.

The advisory had included Pointe Coupee, East Feliciana and West Feliciana parishes, as well as Amite, Pike and Wilkinson counties.

The National Weather Service had warned of accumulations of as much as one-tenth of an inch through the overnight hours, but showers remained sparse.

The main concern will be travel on elevated surfaces and bridges in the early morning hours. The forecast for Tuesday calls for temperatures to climb above freezing not long after sunrise, which should melt any slick spots that might develop during the pre-dawn hours.
