5 trainees set to enter BRPD training academy

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is working to increase the number of officers to keep the Capital City safe.

Later this week, five new trainees are scheduled to enter the BRPD training academy.

The department said it is also taking applications for the next basic training session.

"We're always looking for good men and women to add to this great department," said Cpl. Don Coppola with BRPD. "If you ever had the wants, if it's ever crossed your mind, we urge you to at least look it up on the website, make a phone call and get the process started."

The next academy starts in October.
