BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators say that a child playing with matches set a one-alarm fire that burned down a home.
First responders say that by the time they arrived to Gore Road to fight the flames, heavy smoke was "billowing from the home."
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in under 40 minutes, but it was too late, as the house is considered to be a total loss by the BRFD.
Officials say that the child will be put into counseling and into a program designed to teach young children the danger of fires.
At least three people were in the house during the time of the fire, but there were no reported injuries.
