BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU won game one against Boston College 8-3 at Alex Box Stadium.
Boston College scored two quick runs in the first inning against LSU.
The Eagles got three hits in the inning, as well as a throwing error on starting pitcher Jared Poche.
LSU's Connor Hale started the bottom of the second inning with a single and scored on Andrew Stevenson's triple to center field. Stevenson scored on Kade Scivicque's sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Blake Butera singled to left to start off the third inning for Boston College. Joe Cronin reached on a fielder's choice and eventually scored on a base hit by Michael Strem.
LSU roared back in the fourth inning with two runs. Stevenson walked and Scivicque followed with a single. Both runners advanced on a throwing error. Stevenson scored on a Danny Zardon ground out to tie the game at 3-3 and Stevenson scored on a Mark Laird single to center field, giving the Tigers their first lead of the game.
In the sixth inning, Zardon hit a lead off home run to left centerfield. It was Zardon's second RBI of the game.
LSU struck for two more runs in the seventh inning. Chris Chinea reached first base on a throwing error. Beau Jordan replaced Chinea at first base. Scivicque reached first base on a walk and with two outs Zardon came through again for the Tigers with a double to left field.
Jake Fraley walked in the eighth inning with one out and reached second base on a wild pitch. Jordan singled to centerfield scoring Fraley.
