BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Fewer businesses are selling alcohol and tobacco to underage people, according to the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
ATC agents performed compliance checks at more than 800 businesses during a two-week Mardi Gras crackdown operation.
The agency said sales to minors dropped statewide from 33 percent last year to 17 percent this year.
It added 10 percent of checks in Baton Rouge resulted in sales, compared to 56 percent last year.
However, sales in West Baton Rouge Parish jumped from zero last year to 12 percent this year.
