Fire destroys house on Gayosa Street

Firefighters respond to 2 overnight house fires

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators have not yet determined what started a fire that destroyed a house late Wednesday night, but they said foul play is not suspected.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Gayosa Street near North 22nd Street around 11 p.m.

Mark Miles with BRFD said the four people inside at the time all made it out safely.

He added firefighters reported flames were shooting out of the back and sides of the house when they arrived on the scene.

According to Miles, it took them about an hour to get the fire under control.

The house is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
