Deputies investigate Assumption Parish homicide, offer reward

LABADIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, a concerned citizen called the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office about a man lying in a yard who may be intoxicated.

When deputies arrived, the man was not responsive and rescue units were called to the scene in Labadieville.

Emergency personnel determined the man, identified as 20-year-old Daquan Rainey was deceased.

Officials say Rainey was a former resident of Houma and recently moved to Assumption Parish with relatives.

The facts in regards to the manner of Rainey's death are unknown at this time and has been ruled a homicide. Detectives with the sheriff's office are investigating this crime.

There is a reward of $1,000 being offered by the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the homicide of Daquan Rainey.
