Police said a woman's boyfriend has been arrested after she was stabbed Monday in the parking lot of a gas station.

The Hammond Police Department reported Israel Reddick III, 34, of Lorain, Ohio, was pulled in Atlanta for a traffic violation and taken into custody on an attempted murder warrant in the stabbing of Jaquaillia Milton, 24, his live-in girlfriend.

Detectives said the stabbing happened at the Shell Travel Center on US 190 in Hammond around 7 p.m. Milton was stabbed in the “upper body” and was last listed in stable, but guarded condition at the hospital.

According to investigators, Milton was in the area to visit her mother in Tickfaw. They added Milton's four children were in the vehicle with her when she was attacked.

Reddick remains jailed in Atlanta and is awaiting extradition to Hammond to face a charge of attempted murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
