Deputies search for man accused of shooting wife's brother

Gray, LA (WAFB) - Deputies are looking for a man accused of shooting his wife's brother during a fight on Mardi Gras.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported Byron Nevis Jr., 27, of Gray, is wanted in connection with the shooting.

The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening. His name was not released. He is 34 years old.

The shooting happened on Mobile Estates Drive in Gray around 2:30 p.m.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said a man and wife, who are currently separated, got into an argument. He added the woman's brother showed up to help his sister.

According to Larpenter, the two men got into a fight and people around at the time jumped in to break it up. Larpenter said before the two could be separated, the woman's brother was shot in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the hospital. His condition was not released.
