BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

An attorney accused of stealing from an elderly client is no longer jailed in Baton Rouge.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison reported Stanley "Stephen" Spring, 63, of Baton Rouge, was released from the jail. Spring was awaiting extradition to St. Martin Parish, but officials have not confirmed the transfer.

Reports indicated he will be booked into the jail there on a charge of theft over $500.

Spring was arrested Friday by the US Marshals Task Force at his law firm in Baton Rouge. He allegedly stole several items from an elderly St. Martin Parish man.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office and Elderly Protective Services investigated the crime.
