BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Fourth-ranked LSU batted around in the sixth inning to score four runs and earn a 7-4 come-from-behind win over Kansas to sweep their three-game weekend series.
Six Tiger pitchers combined for a 3-hitter, but LSU committed four errors and allowed three unearned runs. Kansas took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but Chris Sciambra's RBI single tied the game 4-4, and Mark Laird's single to center drove home what turned out to be the winning run.
Hunter Devall only faced one batter to earn the pitching victory. Connor Hale was 3-for-4 with 3 runs batted in, but also committed two of the Tigers' errors playing second base.
Freshman starting pitcher Jake Godfrey couldn't get the final out of the fourth inning, allowing three runs for a 3-1 Kansas lead, but three Tigers errors contributed to a couple of unearned runs. Godfrey only allowed two hits, walked three and struck out three in his college debut.
LSU returns to action Wednesday night with a home game against Nicholls State.
