THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) -

A man convicted three times for theft in the past is accused of stealing from two stores Monday afternoon in Thibodaux, LA.

Just after 1 p.m., 47-year-old Ryan Lirette was arrested for two counts of felony theft of goods. He is accused of stealing boots from a business in the 300 block of North Canal Boulevard before he drove off in his orange and white Chevrolet truck.

Officers later pulled him over and found Lirette wearing the boots he stole, but he also had a steak in his truck with him.

During the investigation, police learned that after Lirette stole the boots, he went to a grocery store in the 200 block of North Canal Boulevard and stole a steak.

Because of his three prior theft convictions, the two thefts from Monday are considered a felony.

He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $20,000 bond, along with a verbal hold administered by Judge Mark Chiasson until his probation revocation hearing on Thursday.

Lirette is also on two years unsupervised probation.
