Police chief hopes to double the number of officers at downtown BR precinct

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

According to the Baton Rouge Business Report, as many 22 full-time police could be assigned to the new downtown police precinct as soon as late summer.

Police Chief Carl Dabadie detailed the plans at Tuesday morning's Downtown Development District meeting.

He said the need for more officers is greater with new businesses popping up downtown.

There are reportedly 10 officers at the precinct now and the chief hopes to double that number.
