This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Rebecca Cox Rebaldo. She was one of dozens of people who commented on our Facebook page about the Mayor Kip Holden's plan to raise $335 million for projects such as a new parish prison and mental health facility. The plan would be partially funded with a quarter penny increase to the sales tax.
Rebaldo says no to that. In her words: No new taxes! Why does the district attorney need a fancy new building? Let them share office space in that huge woman's hospital building they bought. And what about all the money collected from fines and court costs? Maybe they need an audit to learn how to budget money better. The last thing we need is more taxes.
