Police identify suspect wanted in deadly shooting in grocery store parking lot

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police have named a suspect in a deadly grocery store parking lot shooting from January.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Sidney Ellois, 18, is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting that left Calvin Smith, 19, dead.

Smith was found in the parking lot of Carlin's Food-Mart on Plank Road on Jan. 11, 2015. Detectives said he had been shot several times. Smith was taken to the hospital where he later died.

According to police, Ellois is also accused of ordering a 16-year-old to shoot a man as they walked down the road on Oct. 28, 2014. Investigators said the intended victim was not injured and the teen was arrested.

Ellois is wanted on charges of principal to attempt second-degree murder and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Ellois is described as 5'7" and 140 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.
