DARROW, LA (WAFB) - The future of a high ranking, yet suspended fire fighter in Ascension Parish is up for debate, and after Monday night's board meeting, the decision is still not made.
Tarrel Malin, the former assistant 5th Ward Fire Chief was suspended after he was arrested for misusing a parish gas card. He pleaded guilty to those charges and was sentenced a few weeks ago.
He was sentenced to pay a fine of more than $800 and given suspended jail time.
Recently, Malin requested to be brought back to the department.
Members of the board in charge of the 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Department seem very divided on what that future could be.
Monday's board meeting ended with an executive session, where discussions became very heated, but still no decision was made.
For now, Malin remains suspended, and it is unclear when they will take up the issue again.
