BERTRANDVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Assumption Parish deputies arrested two suspects after they found them carrying various illegal drugs.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack says that deputies were dispatched to Bertrand Street about 8:30 p.m. on Friday on reports of someone receiving threats. Police say that Brandon Harris, 30, and Wilbert Caldwell, 26, were pointed out to the deputies.

As the deputies were walking toward the suspects, they noticed Caldwell throwing small cellophane bags on the ground next to the older model brown pickup truck that they were standing next to. When the deputies made contact with the suspects, reports say that Caldwell was nervous during questioning and continuously glanced at the bed of his truck.

Upon inspection, deputies say that they noticed plastic bags in the truck bed with what is suspected to be marijuana. Both were placed under arrest and searched. Upon searching, deputies say that the suspects carried $1,050 in small bills. Narcotics agents called to the scene found about 6.5 pounds of marijuana, 18.2 grams of crack cocaine, 40 ecstasy pills, and 17 Adderall pills.

Both men were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention center for various drug related charges.
