MARKSVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are investigating a fire that left four people dead late Thursday night.
The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal reported it happened in Marksville just after 11 p.m. Thursday.
Officials confirmed a father, grandmother, and two children died in the mobile home.
State Fire Marshal investigators recovered the bodies of Stanley Charrier; 32, his mother, Catherine Charrier, 62; his 9-year-old son, Carlin, and his 12-year-old stepdaughter, Emily Graham. Three of the bodies were found together in one area of the home, and the fourth in a separate area within the charred remnants of the structure. The wife and mother, Monique Charrier, was at work at the time of the fire.
The bodies were later released to the Avoyelles Parish Coroner's Office pending autopsies, which have been requested.
Investigators remain at the scene, combing through the debris, trying to piece together the cause of this deadly fire.
"Barely into a new year and a mother faces the loss of her husband and babies," said State Fire Marshal H. "Butch" Browning. "As a father, I can't begin to imagine the pain she must be feeling now. Our thoughts and prayers are with her at this very difficult time."
