Around 2:30 a.m., Assumption Parish dispatch received a call about a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived to the house in Pierre Part and made contact with the wife of 30-year-old Gary Ellis Jr.

Reports say Ellis had been drinking all night at a party and the argument started after the couple returned home.

"It was alleged before deputies arrived that during the argument he had thrown his wife to the ground in different rooms of the house," said officials in a news release.

The first deputy to arrive on the scene tried to calm Ellis, but reports say he tried to grab the deputy's weapons. Other deputies arrived on the scene and took control of the situation.

Ellis was fired after all interviews were held.
