KAPLAN, LA (WAFB) -
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell announced Friday that they have arrested and charged a Kaplan man on child pornography charges.
A joint investigation involving Louisiana State Police, the AG's Cyber Crime Unit, Vermillion Parish Sheriff's Office, and Homeland Security resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old Gary Wayne Creed. During the undercover investigation, investigators found Creed exchanging videos and images of child pornography online. After serving a warrant at Creed's residence, he was booked into Vermillion Parish Jail.
“Technology is constantly evolving, and our Cyber Crime Unit always has to stay a few steps ahead of the criminals," said Attorney General Caldwell, "I am committed to making certain that our Unit has the necessary tools and resources to keep our kids safe from abuse and exploitation at the hands of these dangerous child predators.”
Creed is charged with six counts of distributing child pornography. If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years on each count, a total of up to 120 years.
