BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The fraternities and sororities at LSU sponsored the MLK Candlelight Memorial on Monday. The candlelight vigil and march were held after the college's Day of Service.

A crowd met in front of the Memorial Tower and was rallied by an alum with civil rights experience.

"We have to march in so many ways now," said Alpha Phi Alpha alum J.W. Vaughn. "We have to march to educational institutions. We have to march to the voting booths. So all of that is education, education, we have to register to vote, and vote!"

Vaughn, who has two granddaughters who are juniors at LSU this year, said that education and activism are important for students to learn all you can and pay attention to the world around you.
