Police arrest a suspect in a Saturday morning murder

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge police have arrested a 26-year-old accused of murder because of issues from a drug deal on Saturday.

Police say that Demond Sanders, 26, allegedly shot 23-year-old Trevor Washington several times in the torso at about 8:30 a.m. Washington was transported to an area hospital, but died due to his injuries.

Several witnesses told investigators that the shooting occurred because of issues stemming from a drug deal.

Sanders was booked for second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
