Baton Rouge 17-year-old arrested for shooting friend to death while playing with gun

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge police have arrested a 17-year-old on negligent homicide charges for the shooting death of his friend.

According to police, David Edwards Jr., 17, and his friend, Robert Thomas, 16, were allegedly playing with a gun at about 11:50 a.m. when Edwards shot Thomas in the torso.

Thomas was transported to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries.
