BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Thousands of runners from across the world are coming to Baton Rouge for Sunday's Louisiana Marathon.
Marathon festivities kicked off on Friday with The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Expo. A quarter marathon and 5k race will take place on Saturday, as well as a shorter marathon for kids. There will be speakers at the Baton Rouge River Center giving seminars about various aspects of marathon running.
About 8,500 people are expected to race on the 26.5 mile track that will take participants from the State Capitol Park, through the Garden District, and around LSU and the University Lake on its way to the conclusion of the race.
CATS says that it will suspend its Garden District Trolley, Line 15, until 5:00 p.m. due to the marathon.
