Deputies find heroin, gun, cash during traffic stop

ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office pulled over a vehicle Thursday around 11:30 a.m. in Bayou L'Ourse. When the driver and vehicle were searched, deputies found heroin, a medication used to treat seizures and panic disorders, $500 in cash, and a Ruger SR22 pistol.

Drake Geisler, 20, of Morgan City was driving the vehicle and was arrested and charged with not having his headlights on while raining, expired inspection sticker, possession of heroin, possession of Clonazepam, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a weapon, and illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

His bond has been set at $100,852.

Steven Crawford, 23, of Morgan City was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center for an outstanding warrant in Assumption Parish for failure to appear for arraignment on examination of applicants required; classes of licenses, off road vehicles, permits for use on shoulders of highways, flight from an officer, safety helmets, headlamps for motor vehicles and motorcycles and careless operation. His bond has been set at $1,351.
