CHALMETTE, LA (WAFB) - You never know what you'll come across while enjoying Louisiana's outdoors that make this the "Sportsman's Paradise."
James Evans sent in video of his fishing trip in Chalmette on Tuesday.
He said he was about to throw a fish when a brown pelican swam near the boat. It even got close enough to eat out of his hand.
In fact, Evans said the bird returned two more times that morning. He said he gave the pelican three small fish.
If you've ever wondered what a pelican's pouch on the beak is for, we have the answer.
It holds the whole fish while the pelican chops off a piece at a time to swallow.
