PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators said two men from out of state are being housed in a Louisiana prison after a traffic stop early Thursday morning turned up about 13 pounds of meth.

Louisiana State Police reported Mariano Vicente, 47, of Miami, FL, and Ismael Bragin, 65, of Cartersville, GA, were arrested. Both were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of possession with intent to distribute narcotics (methamphetamine). Vicente is also charged with improper lane usage.

Tpr. Jared Sandifer with LSP said a 2015 Hyundai Veloster driven by Vicente was pulled over on I-10 East just west of LA 415 in Port Allen around 3:30 a.m. He added troopers received consent to search the car and found the drugs inside.

Authorities reported nearly nine pounds of crystallized meth in a children's backpack in the trunk of the car and about four pounds of liquid meth in a cooler.
