GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - It's a new era in leadership for the city of Gonzales.
On Monday evening, Barbara Duhe and David Guitreau were sworn in as the city's newest council members.
The two replaced former members Gary Lacombe who quit and Timothy Vessel who was recalled during a special election.
Now the mayor says the city can finally move forward.
"It's a new beginning as far as I'm concerned," said Barney Arceneaux. "The good thing is that we've got two good people that I think care about Gonzales and care about the operations. I can only say that the only thing we've talked about with them is do a good job for the city of Gonzales. And I think tonight is the night we will get things started in the right direction."
