Vigil held Friday for Walnut Street victim

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Family and friends gathered at the corner of of Walnut Street and Scenic Hwy to give their final condolences to 19-year old Naquian Robinson.

Baton Rouge Police said Robinson was walking down Walnut Street when he was robbed by someone, shooting him in the process. Investigators believe 20- year old Roderick White is responsible for Robinson's death. This after detectives said witnesses came forth and said they saw White fleeing from the scene, driving away in a black Toyota Camry.

At Friday night's vigil, candles were lit and posters with “Love for Naquain” were held in Robinson's honor. Robinson's aunt, Gladys Wicker, said he was a young man with high hopes.

"He was either going to join the Air Force or the Army," said Wicker. "He wanted to do it to go to college and set his life up."

Funeral arrangements are set to be held Jan. 16 at Promise Land Baptist Church on Plank Rd.
