BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials reported a section of Jones Creek Road was closed after a construction crew hit a gas line Thursday morning.
The St. George Fire Department said Jones Creek was closed between Shenandoah Avenue and Ferrell Avenue because workers at a construction site hit an 8-inch natural gas line, which caused a leak. The roadway was opened just before 11:45 a.m.
Eldon Ledoux with SGFD said the leak presented no danger to the public, but precautions were followed.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department Hazardous Materials Division, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, Entergy and EMS also responded to the scene.
Officials said no evacuations were required and the air quality was being constantly monitored.
