BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police arrested a man Wednesday night who was wanted for allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint in December.
The 19th Judicial District Court reported Andrew Smith, 22, of Baton Rouge, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of aggravated rape.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office website shows he is also facing charges of fugitive from justice, unauthorized use of an inhabited dwelling and distribution/manufacture of a Schedule II drug.
His bond is set at $100,000.
According to the arrest warrant, Smith went to the victim's apartment to talk to her and once inside pulled out a handgun.
It stated the victim feared for her safety and that of her children, so she did whatever the suspect demanded. The warrant added that the victim initially refused, but the suspect put the barrel of the gun into her side, so she complied.
According to the document, the victim struggled with the suspect while he was raping her and ran out of the apartment when she eventually pushed him off of her.
