BOURG, LA - Police said a suspected drug dealer turned violent by hitting officers and trying to bite one of them when they tried to arrest him for allegedly drinking alcohol when he is too young to legally do so.
The Thibodaux Police Department reported Jearmie Bourg Jr., 18, of Bourg, was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of alcohol under 21, two counts of resisting an officer with force or violence and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Authorities said he was released from jail after posting $5,100 bond.
David Melancon with TPD said Bourg was seen drinking at a bar early Friday morning and when police approached him, he reportedly "ignored officers and continued to drink his drink." He added when officers tried to arrest him, Bourg resisted violently.
According to Melancon, Bourg tossed a bag of marijuana before being put in handcuffs and more marijuana was found on him when he was searched. Investigators reported finding 128 grams of marijuana, which is a little more than 4.5 ounces. They added they believe he was going to sell it.
