BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - New resources to help those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction are now available in Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center opened its second detox facility. It is on South Foster Drive. The facility is almost four times the size of the center's Florida Boulevard location.
It has space for 48 beds, recreational spaces and a dining hall. The center's executive director said the facility will help close a long waiting list.
"It's going to allow us to provide services for a lot of people that have been waiting," said Lisa Bailey, the executive director. "We generally have a waiting list that exceeds 500. So, this is going to allow some of those to actually come in and get treatment and not have to wait."
The center wants to grow the new facility in the future by adding a sobering unit.
