LSU overcomes slow start, defeats Savannah State

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - SEC scoring leader Jarell Martin scored 26 points and Jordan Mickey added 24 more plus 14 rebounds, as LSU rallied from an early 10-point deficit to knock off Savannah State 75-59 in the Tigers' final tune-up for conference play.

Savannah State (3-10) started fast taking a 16-6 advantage, but Martin capped a 10-0 LSU run with a slam dunk to even the score. Martin was 10-of-15 and Mickey 11-of-13 from the field, as LSU (11-2) shot 55% and expanded a six-point 31-25 lead at the half to double digits.

Savannah native Tim Quarterman added 13 points for LSU. The Tigers have now won eight games in a row and start SEC play on the road Thursday at Missouri.
