DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

Hundreds packed the Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs for the funeral of Fallen Denham Springs Police Officer.

Denham Springs Police Chief Scott Jones searched for the words to say farewell to Foster.

"He always measured the heart, and James had an incredible heart" says Jones, "That's what most people recognized in him."

Foster was on his police motorcycle, heading to reports of an accident when he was hit by car. Just one day later, he died from his injuries.

Today was about remembering how he lived.

Inside, a somber scene that paid tribute to the lives foster touched in his time on earth. Outside, a final salute, from first responders and officers from surrounding agencies.

There, Derek Bergin, a friend of foster, remembers just speaking with his good friend, and how the community will not be the same without him.

"It made him happy to know that wearing the badge and putting on his uniform everyday made him who he was." Bergin says, "He was the best."

The silver lining that ripped through the gray sky was the hundreds of faces lining the street. Some old, some young, and some who may not have even known him all helping to guide Foster to his final resting place.
