BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A steak knife was used in a stabbing that put one man in the hospital with life threatening injuries, and another man in jail charged with attempted second degree murder.

Around 2 a.m. Jan. 1, in the 1200 block of West Chimes, Baton Rouge Police officers were called to the scene.

When they arrived, witnesses reported the 28-year-old victim and 31-year-old Yoan Hernandez began fighting.

Hernandez told police he started the fight after the victim disrespected his wife, but conflicting reports say he stabbed the victim "because he did not like him."

The steak knife used in the stabbing was recovered on the scene.

Hernandez was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for attempted second degree murder. His bond has been set at $75,000.
