BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a home being remodeled is considered a total loss after it caught fire Thursday night.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on 78th Avenue south of Harding Boulevard, just west of I-110, around 9:15 p.m.
Mark Miles with BRFD said the cause of the fire has not been determined, but foul play is not suspected.
He added responding firefighters reported flame were shooting through the roof when they arrived on the scene.
Investigators reported it looks as though the fire started in the attic, which made it harder to put out. Miles said it took about 45 minutes to get the flames under control.
He added the fire destroyed the home. The owners were reportedly remodeling it and waiting to move in.
The investigation continues into what caused the fire.
