BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Firefighters responded to a fire that destroyed a vacant house Thursday night and investigators have ruled it as arson.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on West Johnson Street, which is off Highland Road, around 9:30 p.m.

Curt Monte with BRFD said when firemen arrived on the scene, they could see the flames had already taken over most of the house.

He added they couldn't save the house, but they kept the fire from spreading to any nearby homes.

The house was a pile of rubble by the time all of the flames were out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Anyone with information about it is asked to call fire investigators at 354-1419.
