New apartment complexes to give local students more housing options

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Casie Kelly is a senior business major at LSU.

When it came time to decide where to live her final semester, the choice was easy.

"It's new, who doesn't want to live where it's new," said Kelly.

Kelly and nearly 700 other students will call Sterling Burbank home when it opens doors this fall. Kelly says she loves the location.

"That's a big thing for a lot of college students to be in the middle of everything. You're super close to campus. There's a lot in the area. We have Mellow Mushroom, Taco Bell," said Kelly.

Walking distance to class, but what really catches the eye are all the amenities.

Camerron Kimble gave 9News a tour of the complex's clubhouse.

"We also have our 24 hour computer lab which is MAC and PC compatible. We also offer free fax, scanning and printing to all our residents," said Kimble, Leasing Mgr., at Sterling Burbank Apts.

There's also free tanning, a fitness center and a yoga room.

"And then through here we have our gameroom. We do have some pool tables, some foosball. From here

you're going to have direct access from here to our resort style pool," said Kimble.

Construction worker Stephen De Luna is part of the crew working to make that concept a reality.

"The lazy river and the pool outside is going to be nice. Construction is going good. It's going to be a real nice place. I'd live here," said De Luna.

A new year, new options and a whole lot of luxury. "We do have a fully stocked fridge they can utilize," said Kimble.

"They deserve it. They're going to school, getting an education. They need time to relax," said De Luna.

Construction is expected to be finished by the summer. Along with Sterling Burbank, another new apartment complex is opening for students this fall.

The Standard is located near the north gates of campus off Nicholson Dr. and features a view of Tiger Stadium.
