BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at an apartment complex Monday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened at the Crillion Apartments on North Foster Drive near Greenwell Springs Road around 6:45 a.m.

Mark Miles with BRFD said flames were shooting out of the back patio glass of the apartment when they first arrived and found the fire in the laundry room area.

He added the family of four that lived in the apartment was able to get out safely and firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to any other units.

Although the exact cause of the fire has not been determined, officials said foul play is not suspected.

They added one other unit had water damage and three others had smoke damage as a result of the fire.
